LU state stuck "Offlining"

drolfeSep 14 2016 — edited Nov 22 2016

HI,

I've had a few issues recently with some ESXi5.5 servers running IB SRP which connect to a Solaris11 ZFS SFPT

I"m not sure if it's due to a reboot or the client reboot ESXi to try and fix an issue but what ever this reason, the LU seems locked

When I try to delete or offline the LU is just gets stuck on "Offlining" as below:

root@ssd-san:/var/log# stmfadm list-lu -v 600144F04DCD4B00000057C672DC0001

LU Name: 600144F04DCD4B00000057C672DC0001

    Operational Status     : Offlining

    Provider Name          : sbd

    Alias                  : /dev/zvol/rdsk/vmware/esxi02

    View Entry Count       : 0

    Data File              : /dev/zvol/rdsk/vmware/esxi02

    Meta File              : not set

    Size                   : 974957576192

    Block Size             : 512

    Management URL         : not set

    Vendor ID              : SUN

    Product ID             : COMSTAR

    Serial Num             : not set

    Write Protect          : Disabled

    Write Cache Mode Select: Enabled

    Writeback Cache        : Enabled

    Access State           : Active

root@ssd-san:/var/log# stmfadm delete-lu 600144F04DCD4B00000057C672DC0001

stmfadm: resource busy

The only way to seem to recover from this is to then reboot the SAN once it's rebooted the LU is gone, in which case I can create a new LU then re-import the data-store into ESXi

The Question here is does anyone know what caused the LU to lockup in the first place and is there any way to force the LU to be deleted without reboot or disconnecting others LU's for working storage ??

Regards, Daniel
