lsnrctl reload option

Hi All,

I want to edit the listener.ora file and add a parameter "SUBSCRIBE_FOR_NODE_DOWN_EVENT_LISTENER=OFF".

For this, i wanted to stop/start the listener for the parameter to take effect.

But, i've been questioned whether i can add the parameter without listener stop/start. So, i came accross this "lsnrctl reload" option.

Can someone throw a light on this option? I'am not sure how this will workout???

Database is 10.2.0.2.
