I have a very, very large UCM/URM installation. The theory for installing URM in such an iplementation is to have separate instances of UCM and URM and install the URM adapter (better known as the UCM adapter for URM) on the UCM instance. This allows URM to manage the UCM instance as an external source. All good so far.

I can check physical records into URM and I can check electronic documents into UCM. My question is what do I do with Electronic/Physical records. There is an Electronic/Physical check-in option on URM but don't I want to check electronic records in to UCM?

The majority of the records are going to be both electronic and physical so this will be the normal check-in mode but if I have to do that directly in URM then what advantage do I get of having a separate UCM instance?

I know the UCM/URM adapter keeps some things in sync but I'm not sure it actually transfers the control of the electronic records to UCM if I check them into URM.

Can I check the electronic/physical records in to UCM? If so, how do I configure it to do so? I'd like to get the physical and electronic/physical check-in options on the UCM check-in menu if that is possible.

Anyone out there have experience of this? Any help would be appreciated.
