Looking for beginner's guide for AS related technologies

I have recently installed 10g Database Server and 10g Applications Server. I understand the database server, so no problem there, but I am totally lost as to what to do with the applications server. I want to build an application using 2 methods: forms and html based.

For the forms, I know how to use forms developer, but I have no clue as to how to get Oracle Applications up and running forms.

For the html based, can I make an html based application that uses the Oracle Applictions username, or do I have to create my own username system?

Basically I am looking for link(s) to a good starting point that will give me an overview of the possiblities, from which I can understand which route I want to follow, then dig down into more details as needed.
