Hello,
I'm looking for a laptop that I can use for development purposes
and that is portable and as powerful as possible.
I've searched the Redhat website for certified hardware at
hardware.redhat.com and decided to consider the HP EliteBook.
But not the older machines, the newer 840 G1 range.
The previous EliteBooks were probably classified as work-
stations with quad core processors and the new 840 is more
of an ultrabook with only two cores but top of the range i7 (4600U).
What I'd like to know is if the new 840 with the i7/4600U is powerful
enough to comfortably run Oracle Linux and Oracle Database for
development purposes as well as the database development apps
(SQL Designer, Reports and Forms) and Netbeans.
An alternative to the EliteBook maybe the ZBook 15 that has several
quad core processors to choose from but is significantly more
expensive, loaded up with unnecessary hardware and power hungry
with a shorter battery life.
Opinions would be appreciated.
