Logs not showing proper message size

Hi I am using sun messaging server 6.3

Sun Java(tm) System Messaging Server 6.3-4.01 (built Aug  3 2007; 32bit)
libimta.so 6.3-4.01 (built 17:13:29, Aug  3 2007; 32bit)
SunOS imat2k17 5.10 Generic_120011-14 sun4v sparc SUNW,Sun-Fire-T200

When I upload a document of size 505 kb it is showing in the log files as 693. I have tried with different attachments, but always didn't see the actual size. I dont have anybody content in my message also.
