Login into Designer 10g

Hi,

Does anyone know what's a "connect string"? I've installed Oracle designer 10g on my laptop. While I launced designer, it's prompting for username, password and connect field. I don't remember ever inputting something like this during the installation. Is this the database alias? Thanks in advance for ur help.
