Log Switch

Consider a transaction as large as around 1GB, I have 3 redo logs of 50MB each, I need to know when the log switch will occur - is it when the redo group is full or in some other case.

Does one complete transaction need to be in one redo log group?

I am using Oracle 10.2.0.4
