location of tnsnames.ora file

i am using Solaris box and have oracle client installed..in this box i can find many copies of tnsnames.ora files eg. in ORACLE_HOME/network/admin, /opt/vqr/tnsnames/, /var/opt/oracle etc... so i want to know which file will be used by oracle...Also is there any environment variable that will show the path of the tnsnames.ora file currently used??
