Locally managed tablespace and ASSM

666294Oct 20 2009 — edited Oct 20 2009
Hi,

Can any body please explain me the clear understanding and difference between the two concepts:

Locally managed tablespaces(LMT) and Automatic segment space management (ASSM).

For, me both the concepts are confusing with each other. Are they equivalent as Locally managed tablespace also use the Bitmaps in data file headers to track the free extents and also the ASSM use bitmaps. then what is the difference between the two concepts?

Please provide me detail as much as possible with suitable example.

Thanks.
