localhost doesn't work on Windows 2000 (need ejp help ?)

Server : i use LocateRegistry.createRegistry(xx), i do rebind (//:xx/<objectname>)
Client : i do lookup(//:xx/<objectname>)
Client and server on the same PC - When i stop the server :
- on NT 4 : connectException on localhost
- on windows 2000 : connectException on PC IP @ (!! local host should be used)
That's why when i disconnect the PC eth. cable on windows 2000 the RMI connection is lost, whereas it's not lost on NT.
any idea to force windows 2000/java to use local host ?
