Hi there,
We recently purchased a couple of Dell R640's with some local storage, and 10gb HBAs to connect to our Unity flash array with iSCSI. My thinking was to use the array for production VMs and the local storage for non-production VMs. To my surprise I see that mixing local and shared storage in the same datacenter is not supported. I have a VMware background so didn't even think to check whether this was not possible.
What are your thoughts on using NFS on each host to expose the local storage - we would need to then ensure that VMs on host1 do not end up running on NFS on host2 etc. Or alternatively is glusterfs a better option, and are there any concerns with running this on the two KVM compute hosts?
many thanks!
Raymond
