listener could not find instance appropriate for the client connection

In our environment all the applications connect to the database via oracle connection manager. We have 10g and 11g databases on the same server. Recently I created a 11g database and registered the remote listener of that database to connection manager listener. As soon as I registered it, I am getting the error
TNS-12523: TNS:listener could not find instance appropriate for the client connection for all the databases that are using connection manager.
I am not able to connect to the database through connection manager now. But I am able to connect through local listener.
I am able to connect through connection manger for other databases only if I unregister the remote listener of 11g database. Please note that all the other databases are 10g database and this is the only 11g database.
