Linux SWAP Size vs. Oracle DB Systems

Michael8773Jul 18 2017 — edited Jul 19 2017

Hello,

When you build a Linux System (RHEL 7.x or Oracle Linux 7.x) to be used as a production Oracle database what rule of thumb do you use for the size of SWAP during the installation?

Some would say it must be the same size as RAM or greater.  That is what I have been doing.  I have seen others, on systems with 256gb of RAM for instance on RAC nodes, specify a fraction of that.

What do you do and why?

Thanks for your advice,

Michael
