Linux Desktop install problem - Mouse pointer not visible

I was not successful in creating a bootable CD so I ordered the 5.2 version on DVD. It installed flawlessly, or so it seemed. When I rebooted my PC and logged in, the mouse pointer was not visible. The mouse works, however. I can move it around the screen and if I happen to locate a clickable object I can click and open things like menus. It's just that the pointer is not visible.

Anyone see this before, or know how to fix it? By the way, it it makes a difference, I'm running this as a dual-boot with MS Vista.
