Linksys Router

Being very new to the solaris platform, my first problem comes when using a linksys router or gateway device. I am pretty sure that I configured my solaris 8 for intel to pick up a dhcp address. And when i run ifconfig -a I get my internal address which is assigned by the gateway device. How do I get out to the internet from there? Also for some reason I cannot or do not know how to assign a host name or workstation name to my box. Need direction.
