Limit number of records to display on bar charts APEX5.0

I am using bar charts in APEX 5.0 and want to know the way to limit number of records to display on the chart. On APEX5.0 , I am unable to find an attribute to set the maximum rows . This I need for performance reasons as I do not want to display all the records on a chart at once which will impact system performance. During the page load , I want to display limited number of records on the charts and later I can pull more records on demand. How to do that ? Please advise
