Lexical parameter

i dont know how i used lexical parameter in oracle reports 10g

select * from &p_table_name

when i paste this query on report builder then it gives me error invalid table name

where i passed the value of &p_table_name ? in AFTER report or BEFORE report? or what is the coding..

actually i'm extremely fresh in using lexical paramter.

hope u guyz help me..
