Leaf Blocks

Hi all, I am using Oracle 10gR2 on Solaris 10.

Can any one direct me to any document that explains in detail what leaf blocks are? All the tables in my db have leaf blocks.

I have a table, the largest in my DB about the size of 750GB, there are 26,983,100 index leaf blocks. What does this tell me? Any document that explains why this happens and how to sort this out?
