LDAP users and groups (ID and GID)

Just a question

I currently have servers with users that have local UID's and GID's. once they are put into the LDAP server there have been many that conflict because of a UID GID conflict. Can I go back and change the UID on the LDAP server and GID on the LDAP server and not have to chown or chmod any of their files?
