launch datasource manager in smartview… unable to create specified ActiveX

When trying to connect to a datasource using Smartview in Excel 2007, I keep getting an error 'unable to create specified ActiveX'. I am running Vista Ultimate 64-bit on the client workstation and using Window 2003 application server. Any ideas how I can get around this error. Thanks you for help in advance.
