I need to get the ID (seq number) of the last record inseerted into an oracle table.

With SQL Server this was accomplished using the @@identity keyword.

I know I can use Max(ID) with a Where clause, but this is not efficent and does not guarantee 100% of returning the correct ID ( because of threading concerns ).
