Labor unit hours not calculating from activity duration

Hello-
I am a beginner with P6, so forgive me if this is a simple answer.
My activity is set to 5 days but when I assign it a resource, budgeting labor units appears as 15h, and not 40h which makes no sense. How to I get it to auto calculate 40h based on 5 day duration?
