Kingston KNE100TX causes reboot on installation

807559Jul 28 2000
Im trying to install Solaris 8 for Intel on a Compaq Deskpro. Initially it installed ok with a 3C509 NIC in except that networking was disabled. I bought a KNE100TX and wiped the machine for another go. Shortly after detecting the hardware the install crashes and reboots the machine in an endless loop. I notice there was a reference to the DEC Device Configuration Guide in the hardware list, but I can't find it on the web site. Any ideas how I progress? Why doesn't Solaris support 3C509 type cards as surely they are rather popular?
TIA
