Key Pair Generator Troubles

I am trying to use keytool to generate keys for thawte cert. I have installed the bouncycastle provider in the security file along with sunJCE and ssl. I have copied relevant jar files to the ext directory. Everytime i run keytool it asks for the keystore password and then throws an error saying Keypair generator not available.

I have no java experience and have spent 3 days trawling round the web and trying various things to sort this out but am completly lost.

Is it possible for someone to show me what i need to do?
