keepalived high availability when a service failure

Luke_DevonNov 26 2018 — edited Nov 26 2018

Hi

I am trying to implement HA with keepalived,  in case of apache unavailable in the cluster. Just for testing, I have configured two Oracle Linux boxes with two NICs.

Ora_Box  1

Eth1 192.168.10.50 ( O&M Network)

Eth2 172.17.50.30 ( Web network)

Kepalived installed and configured as MASTER, Priority 101

httpd installed, runs on port 80

VIP Eth1 - 192.168.10.100

VIP Eth2 - 172.17.50.100

Ora_Box 2

Eth1 192.168.10.51 (O&M Network)

Eth2 172.17.50.31 (Web network)

Kepalived installed and configured as BACKUP, Priority 100

httpd installed, runs on port 80

I followed https://docs.huihoo.com/oracle/linux/7/E54669/html/section_ksr_psb_nr.html  to install and set up the HA. However as I tested, HA does not response to httpd failure. I can see in the logs, when a httpd down in the MASTER, BACKUP will be notified. But the VIP will not be floating to the BACKUP.

also, VIP is not floating when I execute ifdown to Eth2,

Could you please help me resolve this issue?

Thanks in advance

Luke
