Keep Incrementally Updated Backup in FRA *AND* daily full backups to tape

thodiJan 7 2010 — edited Jan 19 2010
I am using database version 11.1.0.7 on Solaris and a separate RMAN repository database (in a 10g database).

I run the "Incrementally Updating Backup" script daily as suggested by the Backup and Recovery User's guide to have a easily restorable backup in the FRA. In addition to that, I also do a full backup to tape daily, using Veritas NetBackup -- if I ever need to go back in time more than a day.

As soon as the backup to tape has run, the image copy files in the FRA from the incrementally updating backup are marked as reclaimable -- I guess this means that as soon as the FRA gets full, parts of the backup may be deleted.

Is there a way to make sure the image copy in the FRA will not be deleted?
