JWS 6.0 and Java Applet JRE selection.

Java Web Start community:

We've been successfully using JWS for some time for our applications.

However, recent versions also seem to have taken over control of which JRE runs when applets are downloaded.

In our case, we have an applet (not our own so we have no control over the JRE that it demands) that requires JRE 1.4.2_06 ... and while JRE1.4.2_06 is on my machine, it is not listed under the Java Applet Runtime Settings panel and I can't figure out how to add it.

Under the JWS Java Control Panel I have 3 JREs listed under the Java Application Runtime Settings: 1.6.0, 1.5.0_09, and 1.4.2_06 and can add/remove JREs from there.

However, in the Java Applet Runtime Settings: I only see 1.6.0 and 1.5.0_09 ... but not 1.4.2_06 ... and there is no way to add a new JRE to this portion.

Am I just being stupid? It seems to me that either JREs added under the Java Application Runtime Setting should also be added to the Java Applet Runtime Settings or there should be an Add/Remove option on the Java Applet Runtime Setting panel.

Thanks for your insight.

John
