JVM Vs CLR(M$)
843811Jun 20 2001 — edited Jun 22 2001I have been following the 'Java Vs C#' thread in 'Java Programming' thread.
I am looking for a 'Subjective' discussions on the strengths and weeknesses of CLR Vs JVM.
I believe that the real war will be between JVM and CLR as against 'Java language' and 'C# Language'
I searched for the keyword CLR and found no match,
hence opening this topic.
Whole IT industry knows that JVM is adapted by industry and CLR may not be (Unless M$ removes all COM specific extension from CLR and subject it to some standard comitee)
Will appreciate if some one can direct me to any article that compares JVM and CLR with no bias.
While M$ is trying to address (in its own way) most features of Java platform (like language, VM, Class lib, etc), I do not see a match for J2EE Runtime environment (J2EE Container spec) other than hiding behind COM+ Transactional services.
Before totally ignoring .Net and continue on my JAVA career, I am interested in knowing what I am throwing out.
Sorry to repeat, we all know the platform independence of JVM and there is absolutely no direction from any vendor to implement CLR (or is there?) Let us save everyone's time and exclude this well known issue from discussions.
