jumpstart install from a flash archive

JulianGFeb 10 2014 — edited Feb 13 2014

Hi - can anyone tell me if it is possible to build a Solaris 10 SPARC server by way of jumpstart / JET and use a flash archive from a different architecture - both servers are SPARC 64bit. In detail I have the following setup.

A Solaris 10 SPARC JET (jumpstart) server I use for Solaris 10 SPARC 64bit installs that works perfectly well.

A requirement to recreate a Solaris 10 SPARC server where I have a full flash archive, the server in question is a:

Source Server:

SunOS server1 5.10 Generic_150400-04 sun4u sparc SUNW,Sun-Fire-V245

System Configuration: Oracle Corporation  sun4u Sun Fire V245

System clock frequency: 188 MHZ

Memory size: 2GB

Target Server:

The server I need to build on is a Sun Netra T4-1 SPARC.

When I try to run the SUNWjet make_client client command it finally fails with:

..

..

Checking product flash

FLASH: Checking nfs://xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx/logs/jumpstart/Flash/server1-image-20130128.flash

WARNING: FLASH: This flar (sun4u) is not for this client arch (sun4v)

Checking product jass

--------------------------------------------------------------

Check of client bdssnew

** FAILED **

..

..

So I understand that the source server is a sun4u and the target is a sun4v but is what I'm trying to do possible, and if so how?

Thanks - Julian.
