JSP Server/Page Help 505 error

Need some help on this one, not sure if it is my fault ot Hostgator's. Various pages on my server (tomcat) are generating a 500 internal server error. If I wait 10+ seconds and hit refresh the page comes up. This is not just limited to JSP, my strait html pages are doing this also. Is there a buffer/caching problem? Any suggestions?
