JREW.EXE HANGS ORACLE 8 INSTALL!!!! REPLACE THE JRE THAT COMES WITH IT
u can replace the jre since they use 1.1.7 which is not compatible with pentium 4 machines
1. go to javasoft.com get 1.1.8 or higher (notice sun's spiel about pentium 4 machines and how you can only get 1.1.8
2. install jre 1.1.8 +
3. assuming you have already downloaded oracle 8 go to the
directory "D:\win817client\stage\Components\oracle.swd.jre\1.1.7.30\1\DataFiles\Expanded\jre\win32" or equivalent and copy files into the "bin" directory from your java 1.1.8 + jre directory in program files or wherever you installed it... do the same for files in the "lib" directory NOTE:::: replace existing files dont delete files in these directories since there are a few that seem to not be in the jre 1.1.8 install
4. replacing these files will upgrade you to 1.1.8 so the oracle installer can run on your pentium 4 machine
5. have a beer for me since it took me almost a whole day to get this puzzle
