JRE mixes languages - how do I force it to use English?

How do you force the JRE to use only English?

By default, it seems that the JRE uses whatever language is set in Control Panel/Regional Options (OS: Windows). I use a Swedish keyboard and Swedish date, time etc formats, but my OS and all my apps are in English.

So, while running Java apps I get Swedish buttons in English apps, which looks completely ridicolous. To boot, the Java control panel is in Swedish which makes it hard to understand (I'm Swedish speaking, but computer terms are English 'by nature' and tend to become less comprehensible when translated).

Thus, I'm looking for a way to force the JRE to use the language I want it to use.
