JRE installer fails err<<class not registered - ikernel.exe

I tried to install the latest JRE on XP Professional but the InstallShield Engine failed.

The error message posted is : The InstallShield Engine (ikernel.exe) could not be launched. Class not registered.

I don't know what to do about this, is it a COM/DCOM configuration thing or a corrupt installation executable? (j2re-1_4_0_01-windows-i586)

Someone please help me, because I can't run all the cool Java games without JVM on my machine.
