JRE 5.0 IPv6 support on windows 2000

Does anyone know if JRE 5.0 support IPv6 on windows 2000? Does IPv6 have to have operating system support? Seems microsoft does not officially support IPv6 stack on windows 2000. Is there other way around we can use IPv6 on 2000?
