JRE 1.5 on AMD64 Linux - missing module

I'm trying to install JRE 1.5.0 on Linux (AMD64). I have downloaded both versions
(jre-1_5_0-linux-amd64.bin and jre-1_5_0-linux-amd64-rpm.bin) and neither
package appears to contain the module "libjavaplugin_oji.so", so the plugin
cannot be registered with Mozilla.

The installation instructions say to use the 32-bit linux instructions, which say
that the libjavaplugin_oji.so is the appropriate module.

Any suggestions?
