Java EE (Java Enterprise Edition) General Discussion

Hi,
I have a JMS publish/subscribe program that is running fine over the LAN. But when I switch to the internet, the Publisher is able to send the messages but the receiver is not receiving anything.
Initially the receiver gave a Communication Exception. But when the Subscriber is run after opened the following ports, I did not receive any Communication Exception.
8080
8443
8009
8083
1099
1098

I am running JBOSS 4.0.4a. Are there any changes that need to be done in JBOSS configuration, firewall settings etc. for the Subscribe to receive the messages over the internet?
Has anyone faced this problem before?
