Jinitiator

76159Mar 11 2005

We are migrating to Oracle 11i, Forms 10g, and Jinitiator 1.3.1.18. The forms reference classes that are in signed .jar file.

All is working correctly, but there is one issue that we have to overcome. We support customers all over the country, so it is not feasible to install an updated keystore, java.policy,
.jinit\jpicerts13118 files on the client machines personally, and if possible we do not want the client to have to make decisions about these files either.

Is there a way to modify the initial install of Jiniator 1.3.1.18.on their client PCs to install the copies of keystore, java.policy, and jpicerts1318 that we have configured on the app server to to contain the information that want.

Steps taken:
1. rename jinit.exe on server to jinit13118.exe
2. created opt.bat that:
a. runs jinit13118.exe
b. copies server java.policy to java.policy in client's
Jinitiator's lib\security folder
c. copies server keystore to java.policy in client's Jinitiator's
lib\security folder
d. copies server jpicerts13118 to clients home .jinit\jpicerts13118
3. created a jinit.exe which is an archive file of :
a. jinit13118.exe
b. keystore
c. java.policy
d. opt.bat
e. jpicerts13118

4. jinit.exe once unarchived executes opt.bat

Results:

All actions in the bat file are executed:
1. jinitiator is installed
2. keystore, java.policy, jpicerts13118 are copied to client

** Exception:
1. The form that I want to be executed is not. It is like it
drops the ?config=test part of URL
2. If I execute the jinit.exe supplied from Oracle, jinitiator
is installed, then my form is executed

- Thanks,
Dale Lee
