jdk 6 on 64bit Xeon

843804Nov 17 2008
Hello,

I'd like to install jdk on a linux machine which runs on 64bit OS (Ubuntu Server 8.10) and on a Xeon 64bit quadcore processor.
Should I go for JDK 6 Update 7 for Intel ItaniumĀ® or regular JDK for 64bit linux?

I do not know if Itanium and Xeon are compatibile?

My second question is our development machines are on 32bit Windows. Is there any special directive for applications built on a 32bit machine to take advantages of 64bit? Or any problem?

Thanks..
