JDeveloper is SLOW using rdp / terminal services

When I connect to my office PC using RDP everything is fast. Machine is Win7 x64, 16GB, 6 cores. But JDeveloper's screen refreshes of anything are very, very slow. repainting a page or scrolling takes ages. JDeveloper works fine if I'm working locally.
