JDeveloper does not run/start

We downloaded iDeveloper Suite 902 and I have installed it on a Windows NT 4.0 SP 6a workstation. The machine has 512MB RAM and a Pentium III 1GB CPU. The install indicated that it completed successfully.

When I try to run JDeveloper by clicking on the icon in the program group (jdevw.exe), I get an hourglass for maybe 1 second and then it just goes away. There is no error message or any other indication that something has gone wrong. I then tried to run it out of a DOS command prompt (jdev.exe) and got the following error message:

Fatal Error: Cannot find class java/lang/NullPointerException

I can run Report Builder and Designer ok.

Does anyone have any ideas about what the problem might be?
