JDeveloper 11g - Can't connect to internet to check for updates

575827Oct 14 2008 — edited Jul 11 2009
I've just installed JDeveloper 11g on Ubuntu Linux 8.04, and I find that I can't connect to the internet to check for updates. When I try, I get an "Unable to Connect" dialog box with message "Unable to connect to the internet to check for updates. If you are behind a firewall or use a proxy to access web pages, check your proxy settings below and click OK to retry."

We don't use a proxy server, and I can connect to the internet with Firefox just fine.

An update on this: I've now also installed JDeveloper 10.1.3.4.0 on the same machine, and it works fine. (No problem connecting to the internet to check for updates.) But still can't connect with 11g.

Any ideas, anyone?

Thanks in advance,
