JDev contra IBM Rational and RUP

TamasSzecsyFeb 21 2006
Hi,

This might be somewhat off topic, but I really don't know where to post this question.

In the good old days there was Designer with it's methodology that helped designers, developers and a little the project managers too to manage the process of a SW development project.

Later on came JDeveloper. While this is a good implementation oriented design tool with development tool included, there is no methodology to support a development project like RUP. Am I right? Am I wrong?

I would like to hear your oppinion about this topic. Our comapny (<40 app designeres and developers) plans to switch to IBM's RUP and Rational tool. I am no shure if this is a good move, but while in the case of Designer and some years back I could have enumerated pros on the side of Oracle, with JDev I am not that shure and mainly because I do not see the methodoly support behind the tool.

So please post your comment and help me reason for JDev :-).

Thank you in advance.
