JDBC drivers

hi, all:

i got HSQL jdbc driver work fine, which does NOT depend any other DBMS.

but what about MM-MYSQL, POSGRESSQL jdbc drivers? doest MM-MYSQL jdbc driver need Mysql DBMS server running, or MM-MYSQL jdbc can do all jobs on its own without Mysql at all?
