JavaWS Wont start.

+(Previously posted in INstallation forum without response..)+

I have had 1.6.0_01, then 1.6.0_02, then 1.6.0_07 installed an running happily for some time.

Suddenly during November 2008, _07 stopped working. I have no idea why.

On attempting to launch a JNLP file, i can see javaw.exe and javaws.exe process start, then after 15-17 seconds, javaws.exe silently exits, leaving javaw.exe running, but with no visible signs of life. The Splash screen was displayed during the time javaws.exe is active, then vanishes.

So, as 1.6.0_10 was just out, I installed, hoping a reinstall would take care of the problem.
NOT. Same problem occurs with 10.

Now, I uninstalled all versions of Java. Every one of them, including 1.5 version.

I reinstalled 1.6.0_10 latest version .. but still the same problem.

I have uninstalled, rebooted, and reinstalled older 1.6.0 versions for which i have the full 15MB install files, from the original installs when they worked.
No luck.

After installing 1.6, the Control Panel will not launch. If attempted after the install, but before a reboot, then this error is displayed:
"Java virtual machine launcher: Could not find main class. Program will exit."
After a reboot of the OS, then attemptig to launch the Control Panel, does nothing. Similar to JNLP, processes just silently exit.

If I install 1.5.0_15, this will work just fine. But no version of 1.6 will work at all for me.
I have tried just about everything. We develop Java software, and advise customers all the standard how-to's to get Java to work, yet this one has me stumped.
I have even gone as far as deleting everything java-ish from the registry.
My OS environment is a Windows XP, patched to the hilt, with all the released MS updates, etc.
The problem is not browser specific.

Any advice, help, guidance would be greatly appreciated.

Many thanks,
