Oracle Database Discussions

Just to hopefully help someone out down the road, I thought I would post my resolve.

Situation:
I could not install any Oracle version (9i,10g,11g) and regardless of the java version I tried (jre 1.6., j2se, etc) the installation consistently failed at 80+%
complete.

Cause:
1) McAfee prevented launch from a temp folder
2) easfa.dll caused a fault

Resolution:
1) disabled mcafee
2) uninstalled ZANTAZ (EAS) which was causing a conflict

Outcome:
pure happiness
