Java vs. C++

Hi,
I'm new here and I'm sure you here this all the time(sorry), but what are the major differneces between Java and C++? Are they both able to create final massive programs with saving abilities and tabs and all that we use in a daily basis(granted with years of training and work), or does that exceed Java's abilities?
