Java Virtual Machine

Hi,

I'm having trouble with my virtual machine in internet explorer.
Everything worked fine yesterday until I decided to re-organize my java setup and I uninstalled and then re-installed J2sdk 1.4 into a different location on my computer. I'm running windows 2000.

So now, when I go to a web site with an applet, i.e. java.sun.com, It tells me that I need a virtual machine and gives me the option to download one. (the Microsoft VM). But after it downloads, I get an error message saying:

"The Microsoft virtual machine you are attempint to install is a protected system component and can only be updates with a later release of the operating system or service pack"

To try and fix it, I reinstalled IE 6, and I also tried installing J2SDK 1.4 again but it didn't help.

So how can I re-install my JVM?? or is there some option somewhere that I can delete or select so IE will let me install a new JVM??

I have seen some other posts with the same problem but I have yet to see a solution.

Any insite would be much appreciated.
