Java swing desktop apps SLOW

843810Mar 8 2004 — edited Jun 14 2007
Why are java's swing applications so slow??? They take ages to start up in comparison to other programs?
I've an AMD Athlon XP 2800+ And java is stil slow. Even a small JNotepad application takes 10 times longer than Other Editors.

I'm a Computer Science student, recently i created an ComputerPlayer for some game. First i coded it in C++ then (almost the exact same code) in Java. But the c++ AI Player was about 20 times faster then java.

And all you who say: java is just as fast as C++: well you do'nt fool me.
I testen it myself, all my friends say: way is that application so damn slow?
Because i'ts java.

I like to program in java, but if C# is a lot faster then java i consider to use that langauge.
Well, i think i will stick to Java (i love it) but many others will go to c#.

Who does not agree with me? I think it is not an opinion if java is slow or not, its a fact: java is slow

Is it ever goint to be faster?
