Java Programming

Hi guys!
This is my first post here, first of all excuse me for my english.

I am new to java, i am just learning. I have been programming for the last four years using different programming languages such as C#, Visual Fox Pro and other stuff.
I have noticed that java is a little bit hard to learn, well, it is for me and i guess it is harder for those who have not experience in programming field.

I have been thinking about it would be great if we had an application like a Starter Kit that we could use to start learning about java technology, well i do not know
whether there already is or not an application like that.

In .Net i have seen lots of Starter Kits, wich are very good to learn a new technology.

The idea of this post is to create a group or groups of persons to work in an application, desktop, web etc... and create different starter kits
for the java comunity, well just in case anybody here wants and can.
